Brandon Belvin, a wide receiver from Arlington, Texas, has spent all four years here at TSU, growing from a young cub to a strong Tiger.

As a biology major, pursuing a professional football player position is only part of this Tiger's future. His plans also include pharmacy school.

Wearing No. 83 on the field caps off Belvin's journey as he rounds out his last year at Big Blue Country.

Belvin started his football career at the young age of six, his father forcing him to play.

"I hated it," Belvin said, "but after scoring my first touchdown, I fell in love."

Now playing as a senior, his game has improved over the years. Just in the 2008 season he has made 25 receptions, made 364 yards receiving and scored 4 touchdowns.

These numbers are only part of his collegiate career; from 2006 to 2008 he has made a total of 61 receptions, made a total of 874 yards receiving and scored 6 touchdowns, according to www.espn.com.

Before a game, Belvin gets himself ready by doing certain "rituals," that help him prepare his mind, body and soul.

Mentally, he prepares by hyping up to music; artist such as Young Jeezy and John Legend provide lyrics and rhythms that get him pumped for the game.

Physically getting ready is a different story. To keep from cramping, Belvin enjoys a full cup of pickle juice. Yes, pickle juice! Belvin insists that it helps him to keep from cramping.

"There was one game where I was unable to get to the store to get some pickle juice and I had to sit out the entire second half due to cramps," he reminisced. "It really works!"

For his last ritual, Belvin is joined by two other teammates, who partake in a friendly handshake, before he finally seals the deal with prayer.

When not on the football field, Belvin enjoys movies both at home and going to movie theaters.

"I'm a movie freak," he said. As a football player, being out on
the field can take a lot out of a player, so to stay in tip top Tiger shape, a healthy diet is in order.

Taking daily vitamins and drinking water are some of the best things for one to do.

Belvin has a balanced diet, which includes drinking plenty of
water--a 48-pack of bottled water in five days.•
