Women's health takes centerstage

Campus officials prepare for breast cancer awareness

The Department of Residence Life will be commemorating Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout the month of October. This year, it plans to provide two activities for students to participate in: an awareness day in the campus center, and an opportunity to participate in the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. Top officials reassigned, $10 million budget cuts addressed

Several top university officials have been reassigned or dismissed, according to an Oct. 7 letter from TSU President Melvin N. Johnson. Johnson also addressed what will amount to $10.5 million in budget cuts this fiscal year, with more than half coming from an approximately $6 million budget shortfall, largely the result in a decline in out-of-state enrollment. The Women's Center, in collaboration with Reign Supreme, hosted its first monthly Women's Tea and Talk on Tuesday, Sept. 30, in the Ford Residence Complex community center. The event was designed to be a forum for women to collectively discuss the issues they confront on a daily basis. (1) comment

The University Honors Program will host the 2008 National Association of African American Honors Program Conference Oct. 16-18 on TSU's campus. The conference's purpose is to promote the honors programs of Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Predominantly Black Colleges and Universities. (0) comments
