Two Tigers lost in fatal crashes

Police said an Impala traveling northbound on 153 struck a van traveling southbound. The van then struck a truck, also traveling southbound on 153.
The drivers of the Impala and van were trapped in their vehicles and had to be cut free. Four engine companies from the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to the scene to aid in the extraction, which took more than 30 minutes due to the severity of intrusion to both vehicles.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
Traffic investigators were conducting reconstruction measurements and taking witness statements to determine the exact cause of the accident.
After the wreck, southbound traffic was redirected through adjacent parking lots. Northbound traffic lanes was reduced to two lanes.
James Jones Jr. was the oldest of three boys. He was a sophomore at TSU. Students called him "JJ".
Last month TSU Student DeAngelo White, died in a Detroit, Mich. hospital. He was involved in a motorcycle accident in his home town of Detroit. White was a freshman at TSU and a member of the university's Collegiate 100 Black Men chapter.
