More than 1,300 people from 87 schools across the country came to TSU for the 38th National Forensic Association Championship Tournament shutting majority of the campus down for four days. Opening registration on April 17, competing for three days and closing the events with a concert and an after party, TSU made sure to show hospitality to its visitors.…

The Tennessee Board of Regents voted unanimously April 25 to award honorary degrees to the Freedom Riders, former students who were expelled in 1961 from what is now Tennessee State University for participating in civil rights demonstrations.
The 14 former students are to receive honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees in a ceremony to be announced at a later date.…

TSU forensics team wins big in London
TSU's Clarence Ball and LaVita Tuff are international champions. Because of their outstanding performances throughout the year, Ball and Tuff were chosen to compete at the International Forensics Association Championship Tournament in London.
